What's America's Safeword? :: "Parochially Post-American" by Mark Steyn

One of the oddest features of the scene is attributed to the president’s “cool,” which seems to be the euphemism of choice for what, in less stellar executives, would be regarded as an unappealing combination of coldness and self-absorption.

Imperialism, denotationally, is the extension of a country's influence internationally. Something all countries with a keen sense of not just survival but that of thriving needs to achieve.

When trying to make sense of why Obama would shun his international counterparts -- allies, mind you -- in the manner that Mark Steyn describes, I want to believe that the president has conflated Imperialism with Colonialism as the Left is prone to doing and is trying to show the world that, "America no longer wants to take advantage of you and mislead you with false courtships."

Even if true -- which I can't believe with any amount of intellectual gymnastics -- the "I ignore you because I love you" philosophy sways only the most masochistic.

The Democrats' Fake Hate Crime -- By: Mark Steyn

I just chalked up to politics over ethics, but it is disturbing that true civil rights activists would play such detestable games.

The Democrats' Fake Hate Crime -- By: Mark Steyn

. . .

But that's what the Democratic Party has been reduced to - faking hate crimes as pathetically as any lonely, mentally ill college student.

17 Minutes of "Me": The Perpetual Academic Can't Make His Knowledge of Trivia Make Sense

Obama's 17-minute, 2,500-word response to woman's claim of being 'over-taxed'

. . . He then spent the next 17 minutes and 12 seconds lulling the crowd into a daze. His discursive answer - more than 2,500 words long -- wandered from topic to topic, including commentary on the deficit, pay-as-you-go rules passed by Congress, Congressional Budget Office reports on Medicare waste, COBRA coverage, the Recovery Act and Federal Medical Assistance Percentages (he referred to this last item by its inside-the-Beltway name, "F-Map"). He talked about the notion of eliminating foreign aid (not worth it, he said). He invoked Warren Buffett, earmarks and the payroll tax that funds Medicare (referring to it, in fluent Washington lingo, as "FICA"). . . .

The time for talk is over . . . it's the lecturing that's in full swing.
